Inclusive recognition for happier teams

Thanks that reaches everyone on the team.

People recognize each other in chat with a quick ++. Pointd Pal keeps score, posts a weekly digest, and shows admins whether the thanks reaches the whole team, not only the loudest voices.

In private beta. Free for up to 10 active people a month.

Priya writes: @Sam ++ for staying late to get the release out. Pointd Pal replies in the thread: Sam has 42 points. Priya has 4 points left today.

How it works

Three steps, and the first two take seconds.

  1. Add Pointd Pal to Slack

Install it once for the workspace. Pick a name and emoji for points, and a channel for the weekly digest.

  2. Say thanks where you work

@sam ++ for the migration plan, your point emoji, a reaction, or the /recognize form. Add a #value to tie it to what your company cares about.

  3. See who gets noticed

The weekly digest celebrates the week. The admin panel shows who hasn't been recognized lately, so nobody fades into the background.

Inclusive by default

Points are easy. Fairness is the hard part.

Recognition tends to pile up on the people who are most visible: the ones in the loud channels, the right time zone, the meetings that matter. Quiet, essential work gets missed, and the people doing it notice.

  • Negative points, bottom leaderboards and public announcements are off unless you turn them on.
  • Blocked or rate-limited thanks get a private note, never a public callout.
  • Birthdays and anniversaries are opt-in, and birth years are never stored.
  • The admin panel highlights people who haven't been recognized recently.
  • Optional thanks suggestions turn a "thanks @name" into a point in one tap, so quiet appreciation counts too.

Questions

What is Pointd Pal?

Pointd Pal is a peer recognition bot for Slack, with Microsoft Teams, Google Chat and Discord coming soon. People thank each other with a quick @name ++ and a reason, and the bot keeps score, posts a weekly digest and lets people spend points on rewards your company chooses. Admins get a web panel that shows whether recognition reaches everyone.

How do people give recognition?

Type @name ++ for a reason in any channel the bot is in, or use your point emoji instead of ++ (@name :gold-star: for being amazing). React to a message with the point emoji, or open a short form with /recognize or the Recognize someone button and pick a company value. Several people or a whole user group can be recognized at once.

How much does it cost?

Pointd Pal is free for workspaces with up to 10 monthly active users, meaning people who gave or received recognition that month. Pro is $2 per active user per month, or $20 per user per year paid up front. Recognition keeps working even above the free limit.

Does it work with Microsoft Teams, Google Chat or Discord?

Pointd Pal works in Slack today. Microsoft Teams and Google Chat are built and coming soon, on the same plans and prices. Discord is coming soon too, with plans priced per server. Join the beta and tell us which one your team uses.

Can people opt out?

Yes. Anyone can opt out, download everything Pointd Pal holds about them, or erase it, by sending the bot a message. Birthdays and work anniversaries are only posted for people who opted in.

Can we call points something else?

Yes. Each workspace picks its own name and emoji for points, like kudos, stars or high-fives, and every message the bot sends uses them.

Who did great work this week?

Give them a ++. It takes one message, and they'll remember it longer than that.
